Reception
WELCOME to Reception
Welcome to Reception Class at St Joseph’s. Our Reception Class Teacher is Mrs Heydon and the Teaching Assistants are Miss Paxton and Mrs Morton. |
Our Class Saint is St Joseph. We learn that St Joseph was hard-working, patient, protective, faithful and loving.
KEY DAYS
Reception Class have PE on Wednesday mornings and their Forest School session on Friday mornings.
Reading with your child as often as you possibly can is the best way to support your child’s learning.
During the Spring and Summer terms, the teacher will send home weekly news about what we have been learning in class and ideas of how you can support this at home. This may be via a note home or Tapestry. These will not be activities that you need to ‘prove’ that you have done at home, although if you would like to send in anything that your child is proud of, we are always very happy to share it with the class. Likewise, we love to see photos and videos that you have uploaded onto Class Dojo, our online learning journal.
Reception at St Joseph’s takes each unique child and nurtures every aspect of their learning and development through the provision of an enabling environment and positive relationships. We work closely as a team, using each of our strengths to get the best outcomes for each child and ensure they are given every opportunity to reach their potential. We use our knowledge of the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning to foster positive attitudes to learning and school life which will carry the children throughout their school journey. Our aim is always to work closely with parents to benefit each child and ensure that all adults are working as a team with the children’s best interests at the heart of everything they do.
